New here? The Debrief is Psychedelic Vets’ weekly two-minute read on veteran-relevant psychedelic research — what is recruiting, what completed studies found, and what is worth understanding next.

Featured study

Microdosing Vets

A veteran-led study documenting how veterans actually use microdosing — a qualitative look at real experience, not a clinical trial. If you’re a U.S. veteran, a short screening will tell you whether you’re a fit.

1Recruiting update

A current ClinicalTrials.gov listing, not a newly registered or newly opened study. Recruiting status checked October 7; the research team determines eligibility.

2Still recruiting

Three ongoing studies from the directory. Recruiting status checked October 7; each study has additional eligibility criteria. PIVOT is now listed as recruiting rather than upcoming in our directory; this corrects an older listing and is not a new opening this week.

3Field Notes — from the archive

Three selections from the published Field Notes archive, with their study designs and limitations. These are not new findings from this week.

In a randomized trial in military populations, repeated ketamine infusions did not reduce PTSD symptoms more than a placebo.

A year after a single psilocybin dose, veterans' depression was still lower than at the start — but the early gains faded, and fewer maintained their response by 12 months.

A year after MDMA-assisted therapy, a qualitative study documented the benefits veterans and first responders perceived — beyond their PTSD symptom scores.

4One thing worth knowing

From the FDA (primary notice, Oct 5, 2026)
FDA asks for public input on ibogaine research

FDA published a request for information on the design and safety of early-phase ibogaine trials (docket FDA-2026-N-10429; comments due Nov 20, 2026). It is a request for public input — not evidence that ibogaine works, not an FDA approval, and not a call for participants.
