Anyone can dump a registry search onto a web page. The reason this directory is worth your time is that a person reviews every study against a published standard before it goes live — and nobody can pay to be on it.
What a study has to clear
A listing only appears after it meets every one of these. If it doesn't, it waits in a review queue rather than going live automatically.
Active, upcoming, or underway — and clearly marked
Recruiting now, a dated upcoming start, or currently in progress. Each study is labeled so you always know whether you can still join.
Registered or institution-run
It carries a ClinicalTrials.gov registration (NCT number), or is run by a known university, VA, or established nonprofit.
Legitimate sponsor
The research team is a credible university, VA site, or recognized research organization — not a marketing front.
Open to U.S. military veterans
Veterans are eligible — either veteran-specific, or a study whose criteria clearly include them. General-population studies that merely allow veterans aren't featured.
In scope
Focused on PTSD, TBI, depression, substance use, or closely related conditions that matter to this community.
Research only
It studies experiences or administers treatment inside an IRB-approved protocol. We never list — or help with — anything that facilitates obtaining a controlled substance.
How a study gets here
Pulled weekly
Each week we query ClinicalTrials.gov (the NIH/NLM registry) for new and updated studies across the psychedelics and mental-health conditions this community cares about.
Human review
Candidates land in a review queue. A human checks each one against the standard above and cross-references university and nonprofit sources — automation surfaces candidates, but it never publishes them.
Published with a date
Studies that clear the bar are added with a "Verified" date and the right status. Anything ambiguous waits in the queue until it's confirmed, rather than going live on a guess.
Kept current
The directory is refreshed on the same weekly cycle, so closed and newly-opened studies are caught and the statuses stay accurate.
